A rare Japanese bird and flower hanging scroll from the early 20th century. It is a painting representing the season of rebirth, joy and vitality. The spring season in its full beauty is represented through the balance of the colours and the composition. The delicately painted flowers and the warm earth colours almost offer a scent experience. The painting is paired with the brown patterned silk brocade.The work is focused on a pair of pheasants surrounded by blooming chrysanthemums, magnolia and a plum tree in a natural and spontaneous setting.
